For businesses across the construction and traffic management space, the gap between completing work and seeing that money arrive can create unnecessary pressure on cash flow and plenty of extra admin for teams already managing busy operations. Traffio Pay is being designed to change that!
Our new tool brings card payments directly into the Traffio workflow, giving businesses the option to automatically charge clients at the point that makes sense for the job, before a booking, before a plan or permit is delivered or when the booking is completed – it is up to you!
The goal is simple: make getting paid feel like part of the job workflow, rather than something your team needs to chase weeks later.
From accepted quote to payment, automatically
For businesses using Traffio Pay, the payment process starts before the crew even gets on the road.
A client can be flagged as a Traffio Pay client within Traffio. Once they accept their quote, they’re prompted to securely provide their card details. The payment can then be scheduled automatically, e.g., 24 hours before the booking begins.
If the payment succeeds, you know the booking has been paid for before work begins.
If it fails, the booking status changes and your team is notified, giving you the opportunity to take action before resources have already been committed to the job.
That means discovering a payment problem before the booking starts, rather than finding out 30, 45 or more days after the work has already been completed.
The end of the job takes care of itself
Getting the initial payment is only part of the process.
Traffio Pay is also being designed to simplify what happens once the booking is complete.
Your crews can continue signing off dockets in Traffio as they do today. Any additional charges can then be billed to the same card, without requiring another invoice or another conversation with the client. A fully paid invoice is generated and sent to the customer before the transaction moves through to your accounting platform, already reconciled against the payment.
The result is a much cleaner path from booking → work completed → payment → reconciliation, with fewer manual steps along the way.
Built into the way you already work
Payments, their current status and upcoming payouts are visible within Traffio in the familiar list-based format teams already use.
For the client, the experience is straightforward too. After accepting a quote, they can enter their card details through the payment process and see the relevant booking and payment information before confirming.
Where does Traffio Pay make the most sense?
There will always be customers, contracts and jobs where your existing arrangements make more sense. Large or long-running projects may already have established payment safeguards in place. Some clients may not use credit cards beyond a particular transaction value, while for long-standing relationships the cost of card processing may
Traffio Pay is best used for jobs where the risk and administrative cost of chasing payment can outweigh the cost of taking payment upfront. For example, when working with new or less-established clients, one-off bookings, or jobs where you want greater payment certainty before committing your people and equipment.
What does it cost?
The expected cost of accepting payment through Traffio Pay is approximately 2% of the invoice value, with the cost absorbed by the business rather than passed on to the client.
